Hypnosis can help with...
Bad eating habits can make you fat and unhealthy. Through hypnosis you can alter the desire for those fatty, sugary foods and accept a new lifestyle and better choices.
Nail Biting is an ugly habit as it makes your hands look horrible. It is destructive to the nail beds and cuticle areas and often includes picking the skin around the nails causing bleeding and torn cuticles. It causes pain as well as embarrassment for the sufferer, especially when they have to shake hands possibly resulting in avoidance of social activity. Hypnosis effectively helps minimize the desire to bite or pick.
Procrastination is a bad habit. It is an avoidance behavior that causes low self esteem and becomes a habit after many years. Procrastination responds really well to post hypnotic suggestions. Once the behavior is altered your self confidence improves.
Teeth grinding (Bruxism), It usually occurs at night, while the bruxer isn't aware of it to stop it. You may have been a tooth grinder for years and not realizing it. Bruxism is also a physical manifestation of stress and tension. Hypnosis allows you to release nervous tension and stress and thereby stopping outward manifestations such as teeth grinding by pinpointing and processing the core reason(s) that have built up creating the outward need to teeth grind. Once the issues have been addressed properly, hypnosis is used to stop the need and thereby allow you to live your life free of the need to grind your teeth.
Chronic hair pulling (Trichotillomania) is a disorder that causes people to pull out the hair from their scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, pubic area, underarms, beard, chest, legs or other parts of the body, resulting in noticeable bald patches. Hair pulling varies greatly in its severity, location on the body, and responds to treatment. For some people, at some times, trichotillomania is mild and can be quelled with a bit of extra awareness and concentration. For others, at times the urge may be so strong that it makes thinking of anything else nearly impossible. It is an obsessive-compulsive disorder and as such is a form of 'nervous' illness. Another view is that it's entirely a behavioral disorder learned as a reaction to prolonged stress. Most theories link this problem with stress but while it may be that high stress levels exacerbate the problem this may not be the originating cause. For many years hypnosis has been successfully used to stop this nervous behavior/condition.
Chronic skin picking (CSP) is a serious and poorly understood problem. People who suffer from CSP repetitively touch, rub, scratch, pick at, or dig into their skin, often in an attempt to remove small irregularities or perceived imperfections. It can occur when a person experiences feelings such as anxiety, fear, excitement or boredom. Some people report that the act of repetitively picking at their skin is pleasurable. Many hours can be spent picking the skin, and this repetitive behavior can negatively impact a person's social, work, and family relationships.
Biting the insides of the cheeks is more common than you think and can cause mouth sores and can be very painful. It can be caused by anxiety but often then turns into a habit. Even binge drinking can be managed with hypnotherapy.
Bite your nails? Imagine yourself with:
* Long or normal fingernails
* No redness or scabbing on your hands
* No embarrassment
* No more hiding your hands for fear of exposure
* Ability to get manicures
* No beating yourself up for this habit
* Feel more confident, more professional
If you pick your skin, imagine:
* No more scabs or unsightly red marks
* Avoid permanent scarring
* A glowing, fresh complexion
* No more heavy make-up to hide the picking
* No more obsessions about this
* No beating yourself up for this habit
And if you pull your hair, imagine:
* Having a full head of lustrous hair
* No more short hair from breaking if off
* No more patchy bald spots
* No more hairdos or cover-ups (hats) designed to camouflage thinning areas
Hypnosis is actually quite effective for issues such as nail biting, face picking, thumb sucking, and and many other undesirable habits. If you suffer from any of these chronic habits, hypnosis can help.
These embarrassing and often chronic habits can be greatly reduced or completely eliminated using hypnosis, generally in 3 to 4 sessions.
During our first session, I will do a thorough intake, asking you what your triggers are, and whether or not you derive a sense of pleasure or satisfaction from this behavior, or if it just seems to be a nervous habit, and so on. Then each session is personalized to address your specific beliefs / triggers.
For instance, many clients who pick their face have a belief that somehow, picking their face will make them look better, no matter how much evidence they have to the contrary. In other words, despite some scars and redness, they still persist in the belief that picking will somehow improve their appearance. So in this case, suggestions will be given that if they want to look and feel their best, they keep their hands away from their faces except for grooming purposes and that they will look much better if they simply let their skin heal and leave their face alone.
If worry and stress are big triggers, or boredom, then suggestions and techniques are given to help you develop better coping methods, and for feeling more relaxed and at peace in general. I also use several NLP techniques under hypnosis to help you stop completely.
What results should I expect?
You should see an improvement even after one session. Often clients will report a dramatic reduction in their picking/pulling right away. A lucky few can quit completely after a few sessions. For most, however, 3 to 4 sessions are recommended for lasting, permanent results. It all depends upon how long you’ve been doing this, how complex the issue is, and so forth.

BREAKING BAD HABITS WITH HYPNOSIS
Through hypnosis at Hess Hypnotherapy you will be able to call on the power of your subconscious to end negative bad habits, and even replace them with new, positive, healthy ones if appropriate. Few people realize the awesome power their subconscious mind has over their lives. The causes for some "bad habits" are rooted in memories or perceptions that may be forgotten by the conscious mind and totally outside of conscious awareness, but are retained in the subconscious. By using the powerful tool of hypnosis, we are able to communicate directly with the subconscious and change those habits quickly and easily. make it become aware of all the negative qualities of the bad habit, and of all the positive benefits of stopping that habit. Then the next time you would have done the bad habit, your subconscious will quickly change your state of mind so you no longer even want to do the bad habit, because this time the subconscious no longer refers to the positive feelings you formerly were getting from the bad habit. Soon the bad habit will no longer even exist for you.
Bad habits can sometimes be formed as early as childhood and can be caused by an addictive personality, repetition of a behavior, or often they come from "modeling" someone in the family who had the same bad habit. What may have been acceptable when we were kids, can be a bad habit as an adult. Many people suffer with stress and tension and some turn to tactile responses such as nail biting. Hypnosis allows you to release nervous tension and stress and thereby stop nervous habits allowing you to regain your self confidence and self esteem.
Habits are often very individual and for that reason it is not possible to name all the bad habits here. Since you have come to this page of our website, you probably have a bad habit you would like to remove from your life.
