Nail Biting is an ugly habit as it makes your hands look horrible. It is destructive to the nail beds and cuticle areas and often includes picking the skin around the nails causing bleeding and torn cuticles. It causes pain as well as embarrassment for the sufferer, especially when they have to shake hands possibly resulting in avoidance of social activity. Hypnosis effectively helps minimize the desire to bite or pick.

Hair pulling varies greatly in its severity, location on the body, and responds to treatment. For some people, at some times, trichotillomania is mild and can be quelled with a bit of extra awareness and concentration. For others, at times the urge may be so strong that it makes thinking of anything else nearly impossible. It is an obsessive-compulsive disorder and as such is a form of 'nervous' illness. Another view is that it's entirely a behavioral disorder learned as a reaction to prolonged stress. Most theories link this problem with stress but while it may be that high-stress levels exacerbate the problem this may not be the originating cause. For many years hypnosis has been successfully used to stop this nervous behavior/condition.
Chronic skin picking (CSP) is a serious and poorly understood problem. People who suffer from CSP repetitively touch, rub, scratch, pick at, or dig into their skin, often in an attempt to remove small irregularities or perceived imperfections. It can occur when a person experiences feelings such as anxiety, fear, excitement or boredom. Some people report that the act of repetitively picking at their skin is pleasurable. Many hours can be spent picking the skin, and this repetitive behavior can negatively impact a person's social, work, and family relationships.
Biting the insides of the cheeks is more common than you think and can cause mouth sores and can be very painful. It can be caused by anxiety but often then turns into a habit. Even binge drinking can be managed with hypnotherapy.

During our first session, I will do a thorough intake, asking you what your triggers are, and whether or not you derive a sense of pleasure or satisfaction from this behavior, or if it just seems to be a nervous habit, and so on. Then each session is personalized to address your specific beliefs/triggers.
For instance, many clients who pick their face have a belief that somehow, picking their face will make them look better, no matter how much evidence they have to the contrary. In other words, despite some scars and redness, they still persist in the belief that picking will somehow improve their appearance. So in this case, suggestions will be given that if they want to look and feel their best, they keep their hands away from their faces except for grooming purposes and that they will look much better if they simply let their skin heal and leave their face alone.
If worry and stress are big triggers, or boredom, then suggestions and techniques are given to help you develop better-coping methods, and for feeling more relaxed and at peace in general. I also use several NLP techniques under hypnosis to help you stop completely.
What results should I expect?
You should see an improvement even after one session. Often clients will report a dramatic reduction in their picking/pulling right away. A lucky few can quit completely after a few sessions. For most, however, 3 to 4 sessions are recommended for lasting, permanent results. It all depends upon how long you’ve been doing this, how complex the issue is, and so forth.
